Aer Lingus Lounge — Terminal 2, London Heathrow
The Aer Lingus Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 2 is an airline lounge in the most literal sense: it exists primarily for Aer Lingus passengers, it carries the Aer Lingus brand identity throughout, and access routes outside of flying Aer Lingus are limited. What makes it an interesting option for UK-based frequent flyers is that British Airways Gold and Silver cardholders can use it when travelling on Aer Lingus — a useful fallback given how many BA frequent flyers connect at Heathrow onto Aer Lingus short-haul services to Ireland and beyond. It is not accessible on Priority Pass, DragonPass or Amex Platinum, which distinguishes it from both independent lounges at T2.
The lounge was refurbished in 2024 and the improvements are visible. The space is now genuinely well-designed — taller than expected, flooded with natural light from a large external glass wall with airfield views, and decorated in the muted green and neutral palette of the Aer Lingus brand. It is a comfortable and purposeful lounge rather than a showy one. The food offer remains its weakest point, with a simpler spread than most airline lounges of comparable size. But for a short connection to Dublin, Cork or Belfast, or for BA status holders flying Aer Lingus who would otherwise have no lounge access at T2, it is a pleasant place to spend 45 minutes.

Access Routes
BA Gold and Silver cardholders can use this lounge when flying Aer Lingus, but cannot bring guests via their BA status. If you are travelling with a companion on the same Aer Lingus booking, they will need their own access route (such as a pre-paid pass) unless your companion also holds qualifying BA or AerClub status. This no-guest restriction applies specifically to BA status access — AerClub Platinum and Business Class passengers can bring a companion.
The Lounge
The refurbishment completed in 2024 has materially improved the Aer Lingus lounge. The most distinctive feature is the 5-metre-high external glass wall facing the airfield — unusually generous glazing for a lounge of this size — which floods the space with natural light and provides clear views of aircraft on the south runway apron. In a terminal where neither independent lounge offers any windows, this alone makes the Aer Lingus lounge a more agreeable environment than its neighbours.
Showers are available, with a limited number of rooms located just past reception. Fresh towels are provided; request a slot at reception on arrival as availability is not guaranteed.
The layout divides into clearly distinct zones: open-plan seating near the windows for general use, a quiet rest area at the rear with up to 30 chaise-longue style seats, private meeting rooms and a working zone with ICT facilities. The decor draws on the Aer Lingus green palette and a stone wall-of-fame feature that mirrors the airline's Dublin flagship. The overall impression is contemporary and coherent. Capacity is moderate — the lounge serves a terminal with near-hourly Dublin shuttle services alongside longer connections — and reviews suggest it rarely becomes unmanageably crowded, in part because access is genuinely restricted to Aer Lingus passengers and qualifying status holders.
Food and Drink
The food offer is the lounge's most consistent weakness. The buffet runs to pastries, cold items and a self-assembly hot breakfast option (bacon, sausage, omelette components to build a roll) rather than plated or table-service dining. The spread is functional and kept topped up but is simpler than what the Star Alliance carrier lounges in T2B offer. Vegetarian options are available but limited. The bar provides a self-serve selection of spirits, beer, wine and soft drinks; the 2024 refurbishment introduced an all-day barista coffee service which represents a genuine quality upgrade over a machine-dispensed cup.
Location: Main Terminal, Not the Satellite
The Aer Lingus lounge is in the main T2A building, on the same level as security, to the right of the checkpoint next to the Lufthansa lounge. Most Aer Lingus flights depart from the T2A gates, which makes the location genuinely convenient — you do not need to walk to the T2B satellite. The United, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines and ANA lounges are all in T2B; the Aer Lingus lounge is one of the only qualifying-access lounges in the main building alongside the Lufthansa Business lounge.
Getting In
After clearing security at T2, turn right and remain on the security level — do not head for the escalators. The Aer Lingus lounge is located a short walk from security, next to the Lufthansa lounge. Signage is clear once airside. Show your Aer Lingus boarding pass along with your access credential (AerClub card, BA Executive Club card, or lounge pass). Note that the lounge opens at 07:00 — later than the independent lounges which open from 05:00 — which may be relevant for early morning departures.
The Aer Lingus Lounge is the best-lit and most pleasant lounge in the main T2A building, largely because it is the only one with real windows. The 2024 refurbishment has brought the design up to a level that reflects well on the airline. Food remains basic and the access routes are narrow — this is not a lounge you can enter on a credit card or points programme. For BA Gold and Silver cardholders regularly connecting at Heathrow onto Aer Lingus short-haul flights, it is a useful and under-utilised benefit worth knowing about. For everyone else flying Aer Lingus with qualifying status or a Business Class ticket, it is a comfortable and calming option for a short pre-departure stay.
