Virgin Red – referral offer

Refer 10 friends to Virgin Red and earn up to 10,000 Virgin Points — enough to get within touching distance of a return flight to New York. Here's how the maths works.

Ten Friends. New York. Almost Free.

Virgin Red’s refer-a-friend offer is running now — and when you work out the maths, it’s actually quite exciting.

Here’s how it works. You share your personal referral link with a friend. They join Virgin Red and earn their first points. You both get 1,000 Virgin Points. You can do this with up to 10 friends in a 12-month period.

That’s a maximum of 10,000 Virgin Points just for telling people about something you already use.

✦ The Maths

A return economy flight from London to New York on Virgin Atlantic starts from 12,000 Virgin Points on a Saver date — plus taxes and fees. Refer your 10 friends and you are just 2,000 points short of New York and back.

Closing the 2,000 Point Gap

That shortfall is smaller than it sounds. Here are three easy ways to close it without booking a flight or spending anything extra.

Tesco Clubcard
Convert your Clubcard points at 1 Clubcard point to 2 Virgin Points. A £10 Clubcard voucher gets you exactly 2,000 Virgin Points. Done.
Virgin ShopsAway Portal
Shop online through Virgin’s ShopsAway portal before your next purchase. IHG Hotels is currently offering 10 points per £1 — a £200 hotel booking would cover the gap entirely.
Virgin Red Everyday Spending
Earn points on everyday purchases through Virgin Red partners — from Costa Coffee to Nike. Small amounts add up faster than you think.

Ten conversations. One Clubcard voucher. New York return.

How to Find Your Referral Link

Your personal referral link is inside your Virgin Red account. Log in and look for the Refer a Friend section. You can share it directly by email, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger or text — Virgin Red makes it a one-tap share from within the app.

Your friend needs to use your specific link when they sign up for the referral to count. Forwarding them to the Virgin Red homepage without your link will not trigger the reward for either of you.

What to Know Before You Start

Your friend must be new to Virgin Red. Existing members do not qualify. If they already have an account — even one they never use — the referral will not trigger the reward.

They need to earn their first points. Joining alone is not enough. Your friend must complete a qualifying earn transaction — meaning they earn points through a Virgin Red partner. This excludes buying points, converting points from another programme, or receiving bonus points. The simplest qualifying earn is a small purchase through any Virgin Red retail partner.

The promo code arrives within 7 days of your friend’s first qualifying earn being credited to their account. The code is valid for one month from issue — make sure you redeem it promptly as it cannot be extended.

You can refer up to 10 friends in any 12-month period. The offer is available to UK residents aged 18 and over only.

✦ Don’t Forget

Virgin Points do not expire — so even if you are not quite ready to book New York, these points will sit in your account until you are. There is no pressure to use them quickly. Build the balance first, choose the trip when the time is right.
