Lufthansa Senator Lounge — Terminal 2, London Heathrow
The Lufthansa Senator Lounge at Heathrow T2 is Lufthansa’s premium lounge product at the airport — a tier above the standard Lufthansa Business Lounge, reserved for HON Circle members, Senator card holders, and Star Alliance Gold members flying on Lufthansa Group carriers. It is a well-finished, calm room with a buffet, a staffed bar, and showers, and reflects Lufthansa’s consistent investment in its lounge estate across its international network. It is not as celebrated as the SilverKris or Polaris products in the same terminal, but it is a solid, reliable lounge that delivers comfortably above the generic Star Alliance standard at T2.
The lounge is located in T2 airside and operates on Lufthansa’s departure schedule from the terminal. Lufthansa operates multiple daily departures to Frankfurt and Munich from T2, which gives the lounge reasonable effective hours across the day. The combined Business and Senator complex seats 350 people — the largest Lufthansa lounge outside Germany. The lounges were refurbished in 2024, bringing a fresher finish while retaining the functional Lufthansa design language. Access is through Lufthansa HON Circle and Senator status, Star Alliance Gold on Lufthansa Group flights, and Business class tickets on eligible Lufthansa Group services. Amex Platinum cardholders flying business class on a Lufthansa Group carrier also receive access to the Senator Lounge (economy Amex Platinum holders access the Business Lounge instead). It does not accept Priority Pass, LoungeKey, or any other card-access programme.

The Lounge
The Senator Lounge follows Lufthansa’s lounge design language — clean lines, neutral tones, quality materials, and a functional layout that prioritises comfort and clarity over theatre. The 2024 refurbishment gave it a fresh, brighter feel while retaining the typically Lufthansa industrial aesthetic. One important practical note: entry to the Senator Lounge requires a QR code, issued at reception when you check in at the main lounge entrance. Without this QR code, the door to the Senator area will not open — if you are directed to the Senator Lounge, collect your QR code slip before heading through. The room is well-maintained and consistently clean.
There is no spa and no dedicated quiet zone, though the lounge is typically quiet enough that neither is a pressing gap. Workspace provision is adequate — charging points throughout and communal tables near the bar area. The overall atmosphere is professional and unhurried, suited to the Frankfurt and Munich hub connections that make up the bulk of the traffic through the room.
Food & Drink
The buffet covers breakfast, lunch and dinner with a selection that is above generic contract lounge standard — Lufthansa takes its lounge food programme seriously and the T2 product reflects the broader network standard. Hot dishes rotate through the day; cold options including cheese, charcuterie and salads are available throughout. The selection is not as distinctive as the SilverKris or Qantas offerings but is well-executed and consistent. Breakfast is the strongest meal period.
The bar is staffed and offers spirits, wine, beer and cocktails, all complimentary. The wine selection includes German options alongside the standard international range — a small point of difference that regulars appreciate. Coffee is available throughout, made to order at the bar. The overall drinks offer is solid for the tier — above the generic Star Alliance Lounge standard and broadly on a par with the SilverKris Business Lounge.
Showers
Showers are complimentary and of a good standard — private suites, quality toiletries, towels and hairdryer provided. The number of suites is adequate for typical occupancy. Book at reception on arrival. Condition is consistently reported as clean and well-maintained — in line with Lufthansa’s lounge standards across the network.
Getting In
The key practical point for Star Alliance Gold members is the carrier restriction: the Senator Lounge at T2 is accessible to Star Gold only when flying on a Lufthansa Group carrier. A United Premier 1K member flying United from T2 does not access the Senator Lounge — they go to the Polaris Lounge. A United Premier Platinum member flying Lufthansa from T2 does access the Senator Lounge on their Star Alliance Gold status. The lounge access follows the operating carrier, not the status-issuing carrier.
For Lufthansa Business passengers the access is straightforward. For Senator and HON Circle members the lounge is available in any cabin on Lufthansa Group flights, which includes the Frankfurt and Munich hub connections where Business class may not be booked. The Senator card itself — the physical card issued to Senator members — is the access token at the door alongside a same-day boarding pass.
Lufthansa Senator status is one of the more achievable top-tier statuses in European aviation for UK-based frequent flyers who connect through Frankfurt or Munich regularly. Lufthansa moved to a Status Points qualification system in 2022 — verify current Senator thresholds at lufthansa.com as the criteria have been updated since the old miles-and-flights system. The Senator card gives access to the Senator Lounge across the Lufthansa Group’s global lounge network, not just at T2 — making it a meaningful benefit for anyone routing through Frankfurt (FRA) or Munich (MUC) regularly, where the Senator Lounges are considerably larger and more elaborate than the T2 offering.
A reliable, well-maintained premium lounge that delivers consistently without distinguishing itself. The buffet and bar are above the generic Star Alliance standard, the showers are good, and the room is calm and clean. For Lufthansa Business passengers and Star Alliance Gold members on LH Group flights it is the right room at T2; it does not compete with the SilverKris First Lounge or the Polaris Lounge on food or atmosphere, but as a hub connection lounge for Frankfurt and Munich traffic it functions exactly as intended.
