American Airlines First Class Lounge — Terminal 3, London Heathrow
The American Airlines First Class Lounge at Heathrow T3 is AA’s premium lounge at the terminal — a quieter, more composed room than the Admirals Club next door, with à la carte dining and a champagne station that distinguish it from the standard business class tier. It is not a Flagship Lounge — AA’s top lounge tier has not been built at Heathrow — and it sits below the Qantas Lounge and Cathay Pacific First Class Lounge on most measures. But it is a meaningfully better room than the Admirals Club, and for oneworld Emerald members who arrive early or find the other first class lounges at T3 unexpectedly busy, it is a creditable option.
The lounge shares an entrance lobby with the Admirals Club in Lounge H, airside post-security. It opens at 5am daily — the same early opening as the Admirals Club, and earlier than the Qantas and Cathay first class lounges. It does not accept Priority Pass, LoungeKey, or any card-access programme.

The Lounge
The First Class Lounge is a smaller, calmer room than the Admirals Club — a similar vintage of design but with lower occupancy and a more settled atmosphere. The layout places a champagne station immediately at the entrance, with à la carte dining tables beyond and a lounge seating area to the rear. The design is dated — beige and brown tones, older furniture, modest natural light — but the room has received some furniture updates that modernise it slightly without transforming the overall feel. It is not a room that competes with the Qantas Lounge or the Cathay Pacific First Class Lounge on design or atmosphere, but it is quieter and more composed than the Admirals Club.
There is no spa, no staffed bar, and no dedicated quiet zone beyond the generally lower noise level of the room. Charging provision is adequate. The lounge suits a one-to-two hour pre-departure window well.
Food & Drink
The à la carte dining service is the lounge’s primary differentiator — table service with a rotating menu covering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is the strongest meal period; the hot breakfast items and made-to-order options are a meaningful step above the self-serve buffet next door. The champagne station at the entrance offers Moët on arrival — a pleasant touch that immediately distinguishes the room from the Admirals Club. A self-serve food station supplements the à la carte service with lighter options throughout.
The bar is self-serve rather than staffed — spirits, wine, beer and soft drinks available throughout. The wine and spirits selection is adequate without being distinguished. Coffee is available. The overall drinks offer is above the Admirals Club standard but below the staffed and curated bars at the Qantas and Cathay first class lounges.
Showers
Complimentary showers are available and shared with the Admirals Club — accessed via the corridor near the shared entrance lobby. First-come, first-served; no booking system. Amenity packs including toiletries, towels and hairdryer provided. Condition is clean and functional. Given the First Class Lounge’s lower occupancy, waits are less common here than in busier T3 first class lounges.
Getting In
For BA Gold members and other oneworld Emerald holders at T3, this is the third first class lounge option — after the Qantas Lounge and the Cathay Pacific First Class Lounge. Both of those rooms are stronger products with better food, better bars, and better design. The AA First Class Lounge earns its place in the rotation primarily through its 5am opening — if you are catching an early morning AA transatlantic flight and neither the Qantas nor Cathay rooms are open, this is a genuine and comfortable option with à la carte dining available from opening.
BA Gold members at T3 have access to three first class lounges on oneworld Emerald status — Cathay Pacific First, Qantas First, and this room. The AA First Class Lounge is the weakest of the three but opens at 5am, earlier than the Qantas and Cathay lounges. For early morning transatlantic departures it is the only first class option with à la carte dining available before 6am. Use it for early flights; use the Qantas or Cathay rooms for everything else. See our individual reviews of those lounges for the full comparison.
A dated but functional first class lounge that earns its place through early opening hours and à la carte dining rather than design or atmosphere. The champagne station and table service lift it clearly above the Admirals Club next door. For oneworld Emerald holders at T3, it is a creditable third choice behind the Qantas and Cathay first class lounges — and a genuine first choice before 6am.
