W Singapore — Sentosa Cove Hotel Review
W Singapore — Sentosa Cove occupies an unusual position in this guide: it is simultaneously the most resort-like and the most isolated property in the Singapore batch. Situated on the eastern end of Sentosa Island, in the exclusive Sentosa Cove marina district, it sits alongside luxury yachts and waterfront restaurants rather than MRT stations and shopping corridors. For Marriott Bonvoy members willing to accept that trade-off — and for those visiting Sentosa specifically for Universal Studios, the beaches, or the marina atmosphere — it is the obvious choice in the programme, and after a comprehensive renovation completed in late 2025, it is also in the best physical condition of its existence.
The renovation, which launched to guests in October 2025, touched every room and suite in the 240-key property. Out went the hotel’s previous neon palette; in came a calmer but still distinctly W aesthetic: coral-orange sofas, 65-inch smart TVs, Nespresso machines, rainforest showers, deep bathtubs, and MOMO bath amenities throughout. The WET Deck — the hotel’s 24/7 outdoor pool with a slide, underwater speakers, and poolside DJs — remains the social centrepiece, and the AWAY Spa has collected enough awards in recent years to justify serious attention. For Marriott Bonvoy members, the property sits at Category 6, currently starting from around 50,000 points per night, with dynamic pricing in effect.

Location — The Sentosa Trade-Off
The location question is the most important one for any first-time visitor considering W Singapore. Sentosa Cove is a luxury marina enclave on the eastern end of Sentosa Island — beautiful, quiet, and genuinely resort-like in a way that no mainland Singapore hotel can replicate. It is not, however, convenient. There is no MRT station within walking distance. Getting to Orchard Road, the CBD, or Marina Bay requires either a taxi or Grab (~20 minutes; Grab availability can be unreliable late at night), or a hotel shuttle to VivoCity followed by the MRT — a journey that takes 30–40 minutes when it runs smoothly.
For guests whose purpose is Sentosa itself — the beaches, Universal Studios, Adventure Cove, or simply a resort experience without leaving Singapore — this is a non-issue. The hotel has a complimentary shuttle connecting it to most Sentosa attractions and to VivoCity. The Quayside Isle marina, a short walk away, has a cluster of restaurants and a supermarket that cover casual meals without needing to leave Sentosa at all. For guests who want to use Singapore’s city-centre attractions as their primary focus, the property requires more planning than any other hotel in this guide.
Rooms and Suites
The October 2025 renovation addressed a long-standing criticism of the property: that the rooms had not kept pace with the hotel’s public areas. The refresh is thorough. All 240 rooms now feature the same baseline specification — coral-orange sofa (which doubles as an extra bed), 65-inch smart TV, Nespresso machine, and in-room filtered water taps replacing single-use plastic bottles. Bathrooms have been upgraded throughout with rainforest showers, deep bathtubs, and MOMO amenities. The signature W bed with pillow menu and electronic blackout curtains are standard across categories.
Room tiers follow W Hotels naming conventions: Wonderful is the entry level at approximately 40–42 sqm, without a balcony; Fabulous adds upgraded views and a balcony; Spectacular occupies higher floors with marina or sea views. Most guests choosing the property for the resort atmosphere will want at minimum a Fabulous room with balcony. The design aesthetic post-renovation is more restrained than the previous neon-heavy iteration — the coral-orange sofa and floral wall art provide the brand’s visual signature without overwhelming the space.
Suites represent a step change. The Escape Suite and Marvellous Suite at approximately 75–80 sqm offer a separate living area and are the most practical for couples or longer stays. The Extreme WOW Suite at approximately 195 sqm includes a private outdoor terrace and plunge pool, while the Rooftop Escape Suite similarly offers a private pool. Suites include Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speakers in addition to the standard room spec.
Dining and Bars
SKIRT is the hotel’s signature restaurant and the culinary anchor of the property. Built around a centrepiece Parrilla open-fire grill, it focuses on prime cuts and sustainable seafood, with dinner service drawing both hotel guests and outside visitors. Note that children under 8 are not permitted at SKIRT, making it unsuitable for families with young children at dinner. The kitchen table is the all-day dining venue: a relaxed, informal space that is best known for its Sunday brunch, which includes complimentary pool access from 3pm to 7pm for diners. A Saturday brunch at SKIRT operates on similar terms. WOOBAR is the lobby lounge bar — the place for cocktails, light bites, and the hotel’s After Dark late-night DJ series featuring international and local acts.
WET Deck and AWAY Spa
The WET Deck is genuinely one of the better hotel pools in Singapore. At approximately 1,200 sqm, it is large enough to absorb families, couples, and solo guests simultaneously without feeling crowded, and the 24-hour access is a practical advantage for early risers and late arrivals. The pool includes a slide for younger guests, underwater speakers, and regular poolside DJ sessions at sunset. Sun lounger availability is generally reported as good.
The AWAY Spa has accumulated a significant awards record including the Haute Grandeur 2025 Best In-Hotel Spa in Singapore. The treatment menu covers facials, massages, and body treatments, with a full spa circuit — sauna, steam room, vitality pool, herbal bath, and experiential shower — available to spa guests. Early booking is advisable; the spa has been noted to fill quickly, particularly on weekends.
Marriott Bonvoy — Earning and Elite Benefits
| Benefit | Notes |
|---|---|
| Award category | Category 6. Marriott Bonvoy uses dynamic pricing; points rates vary by date. Current rates typically start from around 50,000 points per night for standard rooms, with peak dates higher. Check the Marriott website for live redemption rates before planning an award stay |
| Base earn | 10 Marriott Bonvoy points per US dollar of eligible spend at base member level. Elite bonus on top of base: Silver +10%, Gold +25%, Platinum +50%, Titanium +75%, Ambassador +75% (same points bonus as Titanium; Ambassador’s additional benefits are the Your24 flexible 24-hour check-in/out window and a dedicated Ambassador concierge service) |
| Welcome gift (Gold+) | Gold Elite and above receive a welcome amenity at check-in. At Gold level this is a points gift. Breakfast or a food and beverage credit as a welcome amenity choice requires Platinum Elite or above |
| Breakfast (Platinum+) | Platinum Elite and above can select complimentary breakfast for two as their welcome amenity. This is a choice made at check-in or via the app — it is not automatically applied. Buffet breakfast at the kitchen table is otherwise priced at approximately SGD 66 per adult |
| Room upgrade | Gold Elite and above receive space-available room upgrades at check-in. Platinum Elite and above are eligible for suite upgrades where available (at the hotel’s discretion). Recent guest reports suggest the property upgrades Titanium members to Marvellous or higher suites when availability allows — the upgrade record here is regarded as reasonably generous relative to some comparable properties |
| Late checkout | Standard checkout is 12:00 noon. This property operates under a resort classification and has been reported to enforce 12pm checkout strictly, even for high-tier Bonvoy members. Guaranteed 4pm late checkout — which applies to Titanium and Ambassador at standard Marriott hotels — is not reliably available here. If late checkout is essential, confirm directly with the property before arrival |
| Lounge access | No club lounge at this property. W Hotels do not operate traditional club lounges |
| UK earn routes | Amex Membership Rewards transfers to Marriott Bonvoy at 1:1 (i.e. 1,000 Amex MR = 1,000 Bonvoy points). Marriott Bonvoy Amex credit card (UK, £95 annual fee): 15 Elite Night Credits annually, complimentary Silver status, one free night certificate on card anniversary. Marriott Bonvoy Premium Debit Card (£175): Gold status, 15–20 Elite Night Credits, free night certificate. Nectar partnership allows conversion of Nectar points to Bonvoy. Amex Platinum complimentary Marriott Gold status |
The resort classification at W Singapore creates a meaningful gap between what Marriott Bonvoy’s programme promises on paper and what is consistently delivered here. Guaranteed 4pm late checkout for Titanium and Ambassador members — a benefit that applies at most Marriott properties — has been reported as unavailable or refused at check-in. If you are arriving on a cruise itinerary, a late flight, or any situation where checkout time matters, treat it as 12pm and plan accordingly. On the upside, the property has a reasonable reputation for suite upgrades for Titanium members when inventory allows — with a large suite inventory including several categories of private-pool suite, availability is more frequent here than at a typical city property.
W Singapore — Sentosa Cove is the right choice for Marriott Bonvoy members who want a resort experience in Singapore rather than a city-centre hotel. The fully renovated rooms, the WET Deck, the AWAY Spa, and the SKIRT and kitchen table dining programme make it a well-rounded property — and the Condé Nast Traveler recognition as the #1 hotel in Singapore for 2025 reflects its post-renovation standing. The location is the honest caveat: Sentosa Cove requires a genuine commitment to island living, and the absence of a reliable MRT connection makes it less practical as a base for city sightseeing. For points travellers, Category 6 dynamic pricing means rates fluctuate — check live redemption costs before booking, as peak dates can push rates well above the off-peak floor. The resort classification also limits late checkout for elite members, which is worth factoring into trip planning. Book it for the right reasons and it delivers; book it as a cheaper alternative to a city-centre property and the location will frustrate.
