Staybridge Suites London Heathrow

Heathrow's only purpose-built extended-stay aparthotel. Complimentary breakfast and free 24-hour laundry included for every guest, fully equipped kitchens in all 190 suites, and the Heathrow Hoppa stopping directly outside.

Staybridge Suites London Heathrow Bath Road, West Drayton

Most hotels near Heathrow are built around one kind of stay: the single night before an early departure. Staybridge Suites London Heathrow Bath Road is built around something else entirely. It opened in 2019 as a purpose-built extended-stay aparthotel — 190 fully equipped suites on a dual-branded campus with the adjacent Holiday Inn, positioned on Bath Road with the Heathrow Hoppa stopping directly outside. A complimentary breakfast is included for every guest, every night. There is a 24-hour laundry. Kitchens come fitted with hob, fridge, dishwasher and cookware. The evening social runs three nights a week with free drinks and nibbles. For the guest staying five nights or more — the contractor, the relocating executive, the family between homes — it is one of the most efficiently designed hotel products at any London airport.

What makes it notable for the points traveller is something rarer: a genuinely high guest satisfaction score. A 4.7 on TripAdvisor from nearly 900 reviews is unusual at Heathrow, where the transient market and volume pricing tend to compress scores toward the average. The reviews cite staff warmth with unusual consistency — individual names appear repeatedly — and breakfast quality and room condition are almost universally praised. This is not a property guests fall back on. It is one many deliberately return to.

The trade-offs are real. Bath Road is not a scenic location — it runs along the airport perimeter, and the front of the building looks out over runway infrastructure. There is no pool, no spa, no restaurant beyond the adjacent Holiday Inn’s Hi Pizza. Terminals are 15 minutes by Hoppa, not walking distance. And Staybridge Suites earns IHG One Rewards points at the extended-stay reduced rate of 5 points per pound rather than the standard 10. But for the stay it is designed for, very little at Heathrow competes with it.

Exceptional score for a Heathrow airport property. Staff warmth is the dominant theme — individual team members are cited by name in a high proportion of reviews. Breakfast quality and room cleanliness score consistently well. The spacious suite format, unusual for the airport-hotel category, is frequently highlighted as a differentiator. Minor negatives include occasional noise from the adjacent Holiday Inn and some variation in reception desk consistency.

Location

The hotel sits on Bath Road, the main perimeter road of Heathrow Airport, roughly midway along the airport’s northern boundary. The front of the building faces runway infrastructure — approach lighting, perimeter fencing and the movement of ground vehicles are part of the view. Rooms at the rear are quieter and preferable for longer stays. This is not a location guests come to for scenery; it is a location they come to because the Heathrow Hoppa stops directly outside reception, 24 hours a day, serving all five terminals.

The Hoppa runs at £6.80 per person one-way (£12.00 return) — the same service used by most Bath Road hotels, and a standard cost for this corridor. No hotel at Heathrow operates its own complimentary shuttle; that is an airport-wide policy. Journey time to T2/T3 by Hoppa is around 15 minutes under normal conditions; T5 is a longer run. From T2/T3, the Heathrow Express reaches Paddington in 21 minutes. The Piccadilly line serves all terminals and connects to central London in around 50–55 minutes.

For guests with a car, the position is well suited to the business parks that make up much of the local corporate catchment: Stockley Park, Bedfont Lakes and the Slough Trading Estate are all a short drive. Windsor is under 20 minutes. The hotel is not well served by local public transport for accessing London independently of the airport network.

Building and Suites

The property opened in 2019 as a purpose-built aparthotel on a dual-branded campus with the adjacent Holiday Inn London Heathrow Bath Road. Being new-build rather than a conversion shows in the condition — rooms are well maintained with no legacy wear, and the internal layout is logically designed for extended use. The interior palette of teal and vintage mustard with charcoal kitchen finishes is deliberately residential rather than generic hotel-neutral, with the stated intention of allowing guests on longer stays to feel at home rather than in transit.

The 190 suites divide into 145 studios and 45 one-bedroom suites. Every suite has a fully fitted kitchen: hob, fridge, dishwasher, cookware, crockery and kettle are all included. This is not a kitchenette with a microwave — it is a functional cooking space designed for self-catering over multiple nights. Studio suites combine sleeping and living in one room with the kitchen along one wall. One-bedroom suites have a separate lounge, which makes a meaningful difference for guests working from the room during the day, couples, or families. Reviews consistently describe rooms as spacious relative to expectations for the price range and location.

The fitness centre is available on site. The 24-hour complimentary laundry is cited in reviews as frequently as the gym and is a practical differentiator for any stay beyond a few nights. Weekend housekeeping is optional — a deliberate design choice for guests who prefer not to be disturbed on rest days. The 24-hour Pantry provides grab-and-go snacks and provisions for guests who run short between grocery shops.

Dining

Complimentary breakfast is included for all guests every morning — a hot and continental buffet running weekdays from 06:00 to 09:30 and weekends from 06:30 to 10:00. It is one of the most consistently praised elements of the stay across the review archive, with particular mention of the hot options, gluten-free provision, and the staff running the service. For an airport hotel in this price tier, included breakfast is a significant part of the overall value calculation.

There is no restaurant within the Staybridge Suites building. Evening dining options are the Hi Pizza restaurant in the adjacent Holiday Inn — an Italian-focused venue with a theatre kitchen and a distinct identity from a standard hotel restaurant — and self-catering in the suite using the fully equipped kitchen. Room service from the Holiday Inn menu is available. The Pantry covers late-night provisions.

Three evenings per week the hotel runs a hosted Manager’s Social: complimentary drinks and canapes in the communal space, open to all guests. This is a brand-standard Staybridge Suites feature and is genuinely unusual for an airport hotel. Reviews cite it as a practical networking opportunity for solo business travellers and as a social touchpoint that makes longer stays feel less isolated. The specific evenings vary by week — confirm at check-in.

IHG One Rewards — Earning on the Stay

Staybridge Suites earns IHG One Rewards points at 5 points per pound — half the standard IHG rate of 10 points per pound that applies at Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental and most other brands. This is a programme-wide policy for the extended-stay brands (Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites). Elite status bonuses apply on top of the reduced base: a Diamond Elite member earns 10 points per pound here (5 base + 100% bonus), compared with 20 points per pound at a standard IHG property.

IHG operates fully dynamic award pricing with no published chart. Points do not expire for elite members. UK residents have limited routes to IHG points outside of direct stays — the IHG co-branded credit cards with the 4th night free benefit are US-issued Chase products and not available in the UK.

Elite Benefits — What Diamond Elite Gets Here

Benefit Notes
Welcome amenity Diamond Elite choose at check-in: free breakfast for two, bonus points, or a drink and snack. Breakfast is already complimentary for all guests here — take the bonus points instead
Room upgrade Space-available upgrade for Platinum Elite and Diamond Elite. At this property the meaningful step is studio suite to one-bedroom suite — a genuinely useful improvement for stays of more than two nights
Late checkout 2pm for Diamond Elite, subject to availability. Standard checkout 12:00
Early check-in Available on request for Platinum Elite and Diamond Elite, subject to availability
Guaranteed availability Diamond Elite guaranteed a room when booked at least 72 hours in advance
Points earning 5 base points per pound (extended-stay rate). Diamond Elite 100% bonus = 10 points per pound total. Points do not expire at elite tier
★ ELITE TIP

The Diamond Elite welcome amenity breakfast has no practical value at Staybridge Suites — complimentary breakfast is already included for every guest. Always take the bonus points option at check-in instead. The most useful Diamond benefit here is the space-available upgrade from studio to one-bedroom suite: on a stay of three or more nights, the separate lounge makes a material difference to day-to-day comfort. Request the upgrade at booking and confirm at check-in.

Practical Notes

Reduced earning rate: The 5-points-per-pound rate is a material consideration for guests focused on building IHG balance. The adjacent Holiday Inn earns at twice the rate for comparable nightly spend. If your stay type is genuinely suited to the suite format and included breakfast — stays of two or more nights, travel with family, extended business trips — the value proposition outweighs the slower earning. For single-night transient stays, the Holiday Inn next door is worth comparing directly.

Extended stay pricing tiers: The hotel applies tiered rates for longer stays: savings increase at 8–14 nights, 15–28 nights, and 29+ nights. These tier rates are not always visible through OTA platforms — book direct or contact the hotel for the applicable extended-stay rate if your stay is a week or more.

Terminal access and T5: The Hoppa covers all terminals but the T5 run is longer than T2/T3. Guests flying from T5 should allow additional time, particularly for early departures. Bus 423 is a cheaper TfL alternative to the Hoppa for T5 — check TfL for current routing. For T2/T3 departures, the Hoppa is the most direct option.

Noise: Front-facing rooms have runway views and corresponding noise. Rear-facing rooms are significantly quieter. Specify at booking if noise is a concern — this matters most on extended stays.

IHG One Rewards and Kimpton: As a reminder, IHG One Rewards points must be enrolled before booking to earn at Kimpton properties. This does not affect Staybridge directly but is worth noting for guests managing IHG stays across multiple brands.

✦ POINTS TRAVEL PRO VERDICT

Staybridge Suites London Heathrow Bath Road is the best-reviewed hotel on the Bath Road corridor and one of the most consistently praised airport-adjacent properties in London. The 4.7 TripAdvisor score is earned through a combination of unusually warm staff, well-maintained suites with fully equipped kitchens, complimentary breakfast for all guests, 24-hour laundry, and a social structure that makes extended stays feel genuinely hospitable rather than merely functional. For stays of two nights or more — extended business trips, family layovers, relocations — it is difficult to fault the value at typical Bath Road rates.

The points angle requires calibration. Earning is slower here than at most IHG properties (5 points per pound), the Diamond welcome amenity breakfast is redundant, and there is no lounge or spa to unlock elite benefits against. The real loyalty value is the upgrade from studio to one-bedroom suite for Platinum and Diamond members. Use points on extended stays, take bonus points as your welcome amenity, and request the one-bedroom upgrade — those are the moves that make this property work well within the IHG programme.
