Lufthansa Business Lounge — Terminal 2, London Heathrow

The Lufthansa Business Lounge at Heathrow T2 is the standard tier in Lufthansa’s lounge offering at the terminal — below the Senator Lounge, and serving a broader population of passengers including Star Alliance Silver status holders, Amex Platinum cardholders flying economy on Lufthansa Group carriers, and Business class passengers without top-tier status. It is a functional, well-maintained room with a buffet and bar, but without showers or the premium finish of the Senator Lounge. For the traveller who needs a clean, quiet space with food and drink before a Lufthansa Group connection, it delivers adequately. For anyone with a choice between this and the Senator Lounge, the Senator Lounge is always the better option.

The lounge operates on the same Lufthansa Group departure schedule as the Senator Lounge and is located in T2 airside. Access is through Star Alliance Silver status on Lufthansa Group flights, Economy class passengers on Lufthansa Group services with relevant status, and Lufthansa Miles & More Frequent Traveller cardholders. It does not accept Priority Pass, LoungeKey, or any card-access programme.

The Lounge

The Business Lounge shares the clean, functional Lufthansa design aesthetic with the Senator Lounge but at a lower specification — adequate materials, standard lighting, and a simple layout with a buffet area, bar counter, and lounge seating. It is a clean and well-maintained room but lacks the finish and calm of the Senator Lounge. At peak departure times it can feel congested; at quieter periods it is a perfectly acceptable place to spend an hour before boarding.

There are no showers, no spa, and no dedicated workspace beyond standard seating with charging points. The absence of showers is the most practically significant gap relative to the Senator Lounge and should be factored in if a shower is part of the pre-departure plan — the Senator Lounge is the only option for that within the Lufthansa T2 product.

Food & Drink

The buffet covers the standard range — hot dishes rotating through breakfast, lunch and dinner, with cold options including cheese, charcuterie and salads available throughout. Quality is broadly on a par with the Star Alliance Lounge in the terminal and slightly below the Senator Lounge. It is adequate for a pre-departure meal without being a reason to arrive early. The selection is consistent and well-maintained, reflecting Lufthansa’s general lounge standards.

The bar offers spirits, wine, beer and soft drinks, all complimentary. The selection is more limited than the Senator Lounge. Coffee is available throughout. The overall drinks offer is functional — sufficient for the tier but not a differentiator.

Showers

No showers are available in the Business Lounge. Passengers requiring a shower should use the Senator Lounge if they have access, or the terminal’s paid shower facilities.

Getting In

The Business Lounge is the right room for Star Alliance Silver members flying Lufthansa Group carriers from T2, and for Lufthansa Business class passengers who do not hold Star Gold status. The carrier restriction applies here as it does at the Senator Lounge — Star Silver on a non-LH Group carrier does not give access to either Lufthansa lounge at T2; those members should check with their operating carrier for lounge access options.

For most travellers reading this, the Business Lounge is relevant primarily as context for the Senator Lounge review — it is the tier below, and understanding the gap helps calibrate the value of Senator or Gold status on the Lufthansa Group network. If you have a choice between the two, always use the Senator Lounge.

★ ELITE TIP

Lufthansa Frequent Traveller — the mid-published tier equivalent to Star Alliance Silver — unlocks Business Lounge access across the Lufthansa network. If you are a moderate LH Group traveller who does not reach Senator, Frequent Traveller status is still a meaningful benefit when connecting through Frankfurt or Munich, where the Business Lounges are considerably larger and better-stocked than the T2 offering. Verify current qualification thresholds at lufthansa.com as Lufthansa moved to a Status Points system in 2022.

✦ PTP LOUNGE RATING

A functional, clean lounge that does what it needs to without distinction. The absence of showers is the most notable gap. For Star Alliance Silver members on LH Group flights it is the right room at T2 and a step above the generic Star Alliance Lounge; for anyone with Senator or Gold status, the Senator Lounge is always the better choice. Arrive, eat, drink, board — it serves that purpose reliably.
